Switching back to Android after having an iPhone for almost two years is a little overwhelming (but wonderful).
I went to a queer/social justice Seder last night and it was awesome. There was a huge mix of people there and I had some great conversations. I also ate some great food. As we were wrapping up the evening and cleaning up, I heard someone playing a piano (this took place in a church, by the way). Of course, being into music and playing instruments, I went up and started listening to the guy as he played.
We got chatting and I asked him if he knows any jazz. He said he knew a little bit. Then he scooted over on the bench and invited me to sit down and solo while he played a bass line. I agreed, and we started playing this amazing music together.
It’s so hard to describe in words, but the energy level of what we were playing was so high and happy, everyone around us was watching and listening (which I didn’t even realize at the time), and it was just great. I was smiling the entire time. He moved the bass line up at bit at one point, so he scooted a little closer to me, and our fingers touched as we played. It was like electricity but in a completely non-sexual way.
It was just the power of music.
